The 18:9 bezel-less display has also banished capacitive buttons from Redmi models. Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, we have to live with the fact that Xiaomi has joined the ranks of manufacturers using the virtual button. This could be justified, but the Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, and Redmi Note 5 pro's bottom bezels could have done with capacitive buttons.
After the launch of the Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi has refined the gesture controls in MIUI 9, which were initially quite incomplete and unthought through. However, they have now adapted to the new aspect ratio and replaced the lack of buttons with new gesture controls.
One can argue about who copied gestures from whom (some may have been trademarked), but manufacturers are often forced to use the same solutions. Why is that? How about if you switch from another Android device, or even an iPhone, and there are totally different gestures that you're used to. For some, it's the novelty of novelty, but for many it's a long day of practice. And whichever way you look at it, there's not too much variation on a flat, single-sided display. Pressure sensing isn't even a feature in Xiaomi's distant plans, so they've put it in the new MIUI 9.5, which they think is the most useful solution.
Xiaomi is also replacing the virtual Home button and navigation buttons with gestures. These bear strong similarities to the gestures used in the iPhone X.

So far, 3 gestures are available:

Drag the application switch from the top of the display towards the bottom edge you can reach. Swipe down to swipe up to see the latest apps you've opened. To switch between pages: to switch to the previous page, just drag your finger from the left or right edge of the display. or from the right edge of the screen. Return to the Home screen: slide your finger up from the bottom of the screen. Previously you could do this by pressing the Home button.

After enabling them in the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, and the Mi Mix 2 , the Chinese company has unloaded a beta update to enable them in the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro as well. MIUI 9.5 Global beta is available for beta testers to try out for now. It is not a stable update, so it may still contain bugs.

How to enable full screen gestures?
- Go to Settings - Full screen display
- Select full-screen gestures
- Launch the tutorial once and start using it
