Whenever an update is announced, lists are always coming out, predicting which devices will or won't get some of the good stuff. These tend to turn out to be more or less true, although there have been occasions when they don't.
The list of Redmys that are supposedly not receiving the MIUI 12.5 EE update has surfaced on the Xiaomi fans' Telegram channel. So let's take a look at them:
- Redmi Note 7 Pro
- Redmi Note 7S
- Redmi Note 7
- Redmi Y3
- Redmi 7
- Redmi 7A
It is clear that we are talking about phones 2 years old or older. Moreover, from entry level to mid-range, it's not too surprising that these devices don't get feature updates anymore.
However, this does not mean that security patches are not available, which usually fix critical bugs and should be installed as soon as possible.
The Note 7 has been very popular, so software support from the community will not be discontinued for some time: here is worth browsing of the available so-called custom ROMs, which offer new features, newer Android versions and more frequent security updates. The same is true for other phones - the more popular ones usually have years of community-developed, up-to-date Android available.
