Just a few hours ago, the announcement was made on the Chinese forum and the English translation of the announcement to stop the weekly Chinese update was published on the global forum.

The notification is in Hungarian:

Dear MIUI fans!

Since the first version of MIUI was released on 16 August 2010, our developers have continuously improved the performance of MIUI to provide a better experience for users.

As Nike says: Never stop running, we never stop providing the best experience for our fans. To ensure the smooth development of MIUI, MIUI 9 Chinese Developer ROM 8.4.26 will be the last beta ROM to be released on April 27, 2018.

In the meantime, to ensure system stability and user experience, some devices do not support the MIUI 10 update. However, we have provided an update method for Mi Fans to upgrade to MIUI 9.6 Chinese Stable ROM, which is expected to be released in June. You can choose to stay on the latest MIUI 9 Chinese Developer ROM or upgrade to MIUI 9.6 Chinese Stable ROM.

For Beta users, if you want to install the MIUI 9.6 China stable ROM, please note the following points:

1. ROOT will automatically close after upgrading from Beta ROM to Stable ROM. If your applications require a root environment, please think twice before upgrading to Stable ROM.
2. Compared to the Beta ROM, the Stable ROM offers better system stability and MIUI 9 unique features like Smart Assistant.
3. Please back up any important data before upgrading to Stable ROM.
4. This time, automatic updating will be disabled. To check the update, go to Settings > About phone > MIUI version.

Details for the real upgrade to 9.6 Chinese stable ROM: http://en.miui.com/thread-2391768-1-1.html

Devices that do not support MIUI 10
Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3 MTK, Redmi 3 and Mi Pad 2 (You can stay on the latest Chinese beta ROM or upgrade to the latest MIUI 9.6 Chinese stable ROM)

How to download MIUI 9.6 Chinese stable ROM?
Just go to Settings > About phone > MIUI version > Tap the dot in the right corner > Download update > Apply permanent ROM, please click here for more information.

During the suspension period, improved versions may be released for the following devices:
Mi 5, Mi Note 2, Mi MIX and Redmi Note 5

MIUI team

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

So! In the meantime, I read the announcement on the Chinese forum, where they describe a bit more what they really want. The Chinese beta rom of MIUI9 up to MIUI10 will be discontinued from this Friday, but in June/July they will release the last Chinese MIUI 9.6 stable rom for all devices. During this period, only Mi 5, Mi Note 2, Mi MIX and Redmi Note 5 phones may get beta update if there is any major bug in the current one, if not, they won't get either, then only stable update. For those who stay on stable line, expect last year's MIUI8-9 migration, months will pass without an update and it may be that some models will only get the first MIUI10 stable update in the winter. We're only talking about China for now, but global will soon be out too. MIUI10 is coming! Everyone needs to understand, they either bother with the weekly beta roms or they make the new MIUI properly, so only the stable option remains.

The devices listed above, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3 MTK, Redmi 3 and Mi Pad 2, will never receive an update again, only the latest stable MIUI 9.6 Chinese ROM.

But what has that got to do with us? Only that most custom/custom roms, like Multi and MIUIHU are made from them. So we have to remind our own fans that these weekly updates will be delayed!

The Global Ruins have not yet been mentioned, but we can be sure that they will meet a similar fate. The weekly update is here to stay and they may also say goodbye to a few phones. Follow us for more info, we'll be back with details as soon as we hear anything!

I urge all Hungarian MIUI and Xiaomi fans to share this article as much as possible, so that everyone gets the information and doesn't have to be told every week for the next few months what happened!

Thank you!
