It's only been a few hours since we announced the official announcement of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, and already someone has got their hands on it and shot some photos!

The packaging follows the familiar Redmi Note 5A look, the same red cardboard box with a huge 5A logo.

The specs have also been expanded since this morning, with a 5″ eye-saving LCD HD display with read mode, Qualcomm Snapdragon 42x* SoC, quad-core, 1.4GHz per core, Andreno 308 graphics chip, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage expandable up to 128GB via Micro SD card. 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, PDAF technology, 5 MP selfie camera in front. Dual SIM tray and 3000 mAh battery capacity, providing up to 8 days of standby time and a huge speaker at the bottom of the back.

All parts of the casing are plastic, but it's coated with a metallic lacquer, so the whole phone weighs 137 grams. And don't look for a fingerprint reader, there's none on the back or front, like on its bigger brother the Redmi 5. It will be available in three colours, Champagne Gold, Sakura Pink and Platinum Silver Grey. As we leaked, it will be running MIUI9, but until the official announcement, it will be running Android 7.1.2 based Global Stable.

The price is still an incredibly low 599 Yuan (24.000 Ft), we are curious to see the pricing for the larger memory, but it will probably be 699 Yuan (28.000 Ft). The device will be available for purchase on 20.10.2017, 6 pm local time at most Xiaomi on/off-line stores.

*Note that if the SoC numbering is 425, it's nothing more than a wrinkle-stitched Redmi 4A, but if it's 427, it makes some sense that someone would replace the 4A.
