Mojo Vision has reached another milestone with the launch of the new prototype.

The Mojo Vision smart contact lenses were first seriously discussed at CES 2020, and even then it was clear that the sci-fi development was not coming anytime soon. The startup announced in January that it had signed a number of deals, including with sportswear manufacturer Adidas, but its partners include several other fitness companies such as Trailforks, Wearable X, Slopes and 18Birdies.

Moyo reached a new milestone at the end of March, as the Bay Area-based company unveiled a new prototype of its augmented reality contact lens technology, which is based on the company's system is built - from a TechChrunch. However, there are still many technical challenges to be met, but the basic idea is to build a microLED display into the contact lens, which would be projected onto the user's eye by a mini projector, also built into the lens. According to the manufacturer, this will be achieved with a microLED display less than 0.5 millimetres in diameter, with a resolution of 14 000 pixels per inch (ppi), which will be usable both indoors and outdoors.

According to the company, the smart contact lens, which is currently under development, would effectively assist athletes during exercise by projecting data into the user's field of vision without the need to turn their head towards the display.
