After the announcement of MIUI 11 and around the release of the Global Ruins, there are quite a few questions that fans and we have been asked, and very few answers. But what we do know so far, we're going to try to clarify in a Q&A! You can read about the Pocophone F1 update in another article, a little later.

  • Why was the update list for Miui 11 released a week ago, and why is it completely different this week?

The list published a few weeks ago was the same as the Chinese version. As many know, Xiaomi offers up to 5 different ROM versions: Chinese, Indian, Russian, European and Global. On October 16, the list of Indian and global/European versions was published.

  • On day 16, there were two lists, one with fewer devices and one with many more devices, what is the difference?

The list, in which practically only Redmi devices appeared, corresponds to the Indian version, which consists of 4 phases. On the other hand, the list in which more devices have appeared corresponds to the global and European versions and consists of three phases.

  • Only the dates for the first stage have been published in the global list, what are the dates for the other stages?

The dates of the other stages are not officially known, but are likely to be similar to those in India.

  • Will I receive the update on the day it appears in the appropriate section?

Not necessarily, all devices are updated when the update is ready, so in case of errors, this update may be delayed. Better to be late without failing than in a hurry.

  • The Redmi 7A, according to the list, was in the third stage and I had already received the update. What happened?

The device in question received the update ahead of time because the security patch had expired and they were ready for the MIUI update.

  • I'm very angry at Xiaomi because the Mi 9, which is the company's flagship, is in the second round, not the first.

The Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro are in the second round because these phones and MIUI 11 together get Android 10, which means that additional testing time is needed to thoroughly test the new version of Android.

  • Will my device upgrade to Android 10 alongside MIUI 11?

With the exception of the Mi 9 and Mi 9T Pro, the other devices will not be updated to Android 10 with MIUI 11. They will receive the new version of Android in the future.

  • Does this mean that all devices will get Android 10?

There is no known list of devices that will be updated to Android 10, but updating to Miui 11 does not mean that Android 10 will be updated. There are devices that will remain in MIUI 11 with Android 9.

  • My device does not appear in the published lists. Does this mean I won't receive the MIUI 11 update?

The lists are constantly updated and do not mean that you will not receive it. For example, the Mi Max 3 hasn't been released, but the Chinese version has already received MIUI 11, so it will be added to the list soon. For devices older than two years, we can't be sure that they won't be on the list in the future.

  • The Redmi Note 8 Pro is one of the newest devices, and coming out in the last stage, I feel cheated.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro, as some new devices are currently running Miui 10.4.XX, which is a mix of MIUI 10 and MIUI 11. So there is already news about the new version of Android.

  • Will there be a new MIUI 11 global beta?

The global version of MIUI 11 will not have a beta, so you will need to go to the stable global ROM to get MIUI 11. Data will be copied after the device is formatted.

  • And then the Mi Pilot programme what?

Mi Pilot is a program to test stable versions a few days before they are released to all users.

  • Do you have a published list of Mi Pilot versions?

No, the published dates refer to the global launch for all users, the Mi Pilot dates are days before the announced date.

  • Will the Themes app return in MIUI 11?

Due to European Union law, it cannot be used in Hungary, so it will not work in our country.

  • Arrived at the MIUI 11, and there are features that have been announced but they are not showing up on the device, what is the reason?

There are features that cannot be implemented on certain devices for hardware reasons, such as AOD, which is only available on devices with Amoled displays.

  • Will my device be updated monthly from now on?

The update policy will remain unchanged, Xiaomi is not obliged to update devices every month or update the security patch. The current obligation is four security updates per year for a period of two years.

  • Do you have a device from the Mi A versions (Mi A1, Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite, Mi A3) and it doesn't appear in the list, not getting an update?

Mi A versions do not have Miui, so they are not affected by this update. These devices have Android One, so they do not appear in the lists.

  • Updated to MIUI 11. Why do I get Google's Digital Wellbeing, Phone, Contacts, Messages from MIUI instead?
Due to the new Google certification obligations, they had to replace the Miui app with the Google app in the global version.
  • We're past day 22 and my tool is in phase one, but I haven't received the update yet.
Those in section 1 do not imply that they update at 22 00:00, but they can update anytime from 22 to 31 if there are no errors. In case of an error, it may be delayed after 31. Also, updating one device does not mean that the others will be released at the same time.
