It was announced today at the Xiaomi Global forum that Global support for the Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will be discontinued following the end of Qualcomm's China developer and stable.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 was announced in February 2016 and released in April of that year. It didn't have a B20, but it was still very popular in our country. The device has had 140 updates in the last years, which is very few compared to the Mi 3. The Mi 5 had both Chinese and global ROMs, and the domestic development team MIUI Hungary also took it up after its release and provided continuous support to Hungarian Mi 5 fans.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm was announced before the Mi 5 in January 2016 and was available in February. After the MTK version, there wasn't too much improvement, but the Snapdragon 650 proved to be better in all areas, making it more sought after than its cheaper brother. It was also one of the most popular phones in our country in 2016, until the release of the Redmi Note 5, so domestic distribution and support was also as high.

The last weekly update for the two devices will come on Friday, after which they will be discontinued and a final MIUI 10 Global stable will be released for them sometime in the future (Q1 2019). The beta testing team will also be disbanded after the Friday update.

On the dust of peace...
