Redmi only entered the tablet market in October last year, and since then there has been a huge demand for affordable tablets. The second generation hasn't been released yet, we're likely to get it in September, but there's been a small update in the form of the Redmi Pad SE.

Small but significant changes have been made compared to the previous generation. The screen is bigger, the processor is slower, there's more memory and a 3.5mm Jack headphone jack.

The processor has been swapped from MediaTek Helio G99 to Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G, so performance is down but battery life is up.

The screen and the case have also increased slightly, from 10.61 inches to 11.0 inches, but unfortunately the resolution has been reduced to 1200 x 1920 pixels. So has the PPI value, which reduces the image quality. But at least you still get 90 Hz refresh rate and 400 nit brightness.

The rear camera is unchanged, with the same 8 MP, f/2.0 aperture and 1080p 30 FPS video capability. However, the resolution and capability of the selfie camera has been reduced from 8 to 5 MP.

The rest of the specification is almost unchanged. 8,000 mAh battery, 4 speakers with Dolby Atmos® support, unibody case, etc. Although the proci makes Bluetooth 5.0 a step backwards, the 3.5 mm Jack headphone jack compensates somewhat. Plus, the Redmi Pad SE tablet comes with an extra storage expansion slot for up to 1 TB of storage!

Redmi Pad SE price

  • 4/128 GB - 199 € ~ 76.000 Ft
  • 6/128 GB - 229 € ~ 87.500 Ft
  • 8/128 GB - 249 € ~ 95.000 Ft

Of course, it will be more expensive than that, as we are used to. It's not officially on sale yet, but I'll be back with details as soon as it's announced! The Redmi Pad was a bit more expensive in comparison, 250 € included the better processor and nicer screen and all the other extras... The Redmi Pad 4/128 GB is now 83.690, which is not so much more than the Redmi Pad SE to have a bigger screen and headphone jack.
