The first product from Xiaomi was MIUI. It is a very complex system based on Android, providing a solution for everything IS. With its own applications, its own cloud service, its own unique interface and market-leading solutions, it has become the best Android transcript in the world. With over 200 million active users, even though support for other brands stopped years ago, over the years, we can count over 400 million activated MIUI users.

Xiaomi has never made most of its revenue from phone sales, but from the sale of other products and services. A good part of this is generated by the recently introduced system-level advertising, which let's face it, is not accepted by users. Region-specific advertising at application start-up, while applications are running, in settings and many other places is almost chaotic and the CEO wants to clean it up. The ads will not disappear completely, as they would lose a lot of revenue, but they will be cleaned up and reworked to ensure a smooth operation and user experience.

The MIUI redesign has already begun, and surveys are being conducted on MIUI Weibo with fan engagement. Last week Wednesday, during the first online conference, MIUI designers and engineers asked users what innovative features they would like to see in the next operating system, MIUI 11. From the responses of the participants, they selected 6 moments that could be implemented in the next system, but I should note that these are the wishes of Chinese fans, not those of other countries...

  1. Wechat and QQ call recording (locally recorded recordings, which are not even sent to the cloud)
  2. Local waste bin (deleted text messages, photos, documents, etc. are not deleted immediately, but are placed in a bin and automatically deleted after 3 days)
  3. Global magnifier (zoom in on any part of the system for better visibility)
  4. Notification box (user-filtered, insignificant notifications are not deleted when notifications are deleted, but can be read back in a separate notification box)
  5. Extreme power saving (everything can be switched off except texting and calling)
  6. Curriculum support (timetable, curriculum support, calendar with event and notification)

The second online conference is still being processed, with a total of 7,057 contributions to be filtered out and aggregated, which many of you would like to do. The first half of the evening's questions to users was about the MIUI interface and System Functions, what they think about it, what they don't need and what would be good to have included. The second question was about social platforms, the demise of forums, the new interface, who expects what from the future communication interface. As soon as there is a development on the second round, we will come back with details.
