Xiaomi's feathers will be thicker in 2020, with a change in strategy that has elevated them to true "premium manufacturer" status. With the Mi 10 components, they can do just that, as - thanks to their ecosystem - they have been supplying us with better-than-best products for 10 years now, covering almost every segment, from ballpoint pens -mediately- to electric cars.
Mi 10 has all the technology the industry can currently produce. Without being exhaustive: it has the most powerful mobile processor, the fastest (LPDDR5) memory and (UFS 3.0) back-up, 5G and WiFi 6 support, 100% colour coverage 6.67″ AMOLED display, stereo speakers, 4780mAh battery capacity, 30W wired and wireless charging support, and at launch it also won the Best Smartphone with Camera for its photo, video and audio capabilities.

2. Roborock S6 Pure
Roborock is one of the best-known robot vacuum cleaner manufacturers in the world. It has earned its fame as a member of the Xiaomi ecosystem, and over the past 3 years, all of its models have become well-known and popular products in Hungary. This huge popularity is no coincidence, as it is one of the best choices in terms of value for money, and it is also very reliable (it has a domestic service).
In 2020, the Roborock product line was extended with 2 new robotic vacuum cleaners. Back in January, the S6 Pure model, the streamlined successor to the S6, was unveiled at CES in Las Vegas, and the S6 MaxV model, the successor to the currently available S5 Max, will be launched in the summer.
The differences between the S6 and the S6 Pure are almost minimal, I know them in points:
- perhaps most importantly the price, the S6 Pure has a more affordable price tag
- 40 decimetres lighter, down from 3.6 kg to 3.2 kg
- the operating noise level has changed: S6 (58dB in Turbo mode), S6 Pure (50-65dB), so it's easy to see that Pure is slightly louder at the same setting
- the water tank of the S6 Pure has increased at the expense of the size of the dust tank: the S6 (480 ml dust tank, 160 ml water tank), S6 Pure (460 ml dust tank, 180 ml water tank)
- Charging time has increased on the S6 Pure: S6 - 3 hours, S6 Pure - 6 hours
- Supplied accessories: while the S6 comes with 2 washable and 10 disposable mops, the S6 Pure comes with only 1 washable one.
- Fewer physical buttons: 3 on the S6 and 2 on the S6 Pure. However, they both perform two functions, so usability is the same without an app.
The S6 Pure's navigation algorithm is one of the most advanced and sophisticated in the field. You can now colour-code rooms on the map, with separate cleaning times and functions. The advanced and efficient processor calculates the required route faster, reducing cleaning time and increasing the area that can be cleaned with a single charge. This is roughly 150 m2 hacking and 300m2 means a sweep up.
While the Mi robot vacuum-Mop Pro may be a strong contender, the S6 Pure has a much bigger battery, more advanced software and more advanced components. And the quality of the wear parts is not negligible. The redesigned main brush is much gentler on the floor, thanks to a redesigned rubber lamella and denser and softer bristles. Cleaning is also easier, as the main brush bearing on the S5 Max, S6 and S6 Pure models can be completely removed, allowing the hair to be removed from the shaft in one easy motion. The side brush is also made of silicone rubber, which also won't scratch the floor, although the soft rubber doesn't like carpet and doesn't remove dirt from deeper crevices as effectively as the more brittle bristle version.
The top of the Roborock S6 Pure has a trapezoidal decorative strip divided by the laser tower. The stripe is glossy, while the rest of the cover is matt, which is a more durable solution for scratches.
The S6 is nearing the end of its production run, making it difficult to buy, but the new S6 Pure will be available for the rest of the year. 3. Amazfit T-Rex
The choice of name is not a coincidence, as the rugged design could easily have been a prop on the wrist of the protagonist of Jurassic World, but it would also be suitable for military and action films. For active sports enthusiasts and hikers, the smartwatch has a 1.3″ OLED display, which means an infinite viewing angle, excellent contrast and can be read even in sunlight. It features 14 sport modes, GPS, Bluetooth 5.0 support, Gorilla Glass 5 protection and up to 20 days of battery life. The casing can withstand temperatures from -40°C to +70°C, so it can withstand extreme weather in Siberia or even Antarctica for a short time, as well as the hot Sahara. It may also be popular with light divers thanks to its 5ATM water resistance, as it is for essentially all extreme sports.
The Amazfit T-Rex is an affordable sports and smartwatch running the manufacturer's own Amazfit OS. It doesn't have its own back and the microphone/speaker pair for making and receiving calls, but you can use a headset. Of course, a heart rate monitor is not missing, as is a 3-axis accelerometer, or even a geomagnetic sensor, as the BioTrackerTM function too.
