Today has been mostly without interesting or very important news, but the week still has surprises in store, such as Mi 9 Se and maybe the Global version arriving this week, with big tests to come. So what has Xiaomi been trolling? It compared its latest top phone, the Mi 9, in a slightly funny way to Huawei's latest P30.

It's not so much funny as it is thought-provoking, although anyone not familiar with the prices won't be put off at first. Is this really necessary? Asks the question on Xiaomi's official Facebook page. 799 euros is not a unique price, the best known brands are at the top end with similar pricing, but Xiaomi? Well, here's the next post...

The list is not complete, as it does not cover everything, but we will make up for this below. By comparing the key components, you can decide which phone's specs are superior to the other, but once you look at the price, there's no question that if you had to choose, it would be the one. Now don't come with the Hungarian conditions, Xiaomi's big eyes are not cast in this small pool. In relevant markets like Spain, France, Italy and other company-backed countries, it makes a ridiculously big difference. But let's look at the other hardware differences, since the listing doesn't include, for example, that the Mi 9's display is AMOLED, which is significantly better quality than the P30's simple OLED display. On the other hand, Huawei has the battery capacity, which at 3,600 mAh is more power than the Mi 9's 3,300 mAh, but with the Mi 9's fast charging, this can be remedied in minutes. Also, the P30 comes with 6 GB of memory in its base package just like the Mi 9, which I'm not sure if the EMUI makes better use of, but I can't objectively judge that at the moment, and when one of the major tech blogs has both, there will definitely be an in-depth comparison.

Digging further into the features of the two phones, the P30's only real bonus is Dolby Atmos support and the accompanying bass speaker, plus a 3.5mm Jack connector. Not to mention the IP53 rating, which means:

  • 5: Protected against dust (non-damaging penetration allowed)
  • 3: Protected against splashing water (max. 60 degrees from vertical)

The smaller screen means the P30 has a higher ppi (422), but the Mi 9's AMOLED technology (403) won't benefit it. That's not the end of it, the P30's storage is at least expandable, with a MicroSD card up to 256GB, while the Mi 9 is not. I wouldn't go into the photo components just on the basis of the numbers because the end result is what matters, there will be plenty of comparisons in time, although the triple camera on the back will probably be in favour of the Mi 9, while the front selfie camera will be in favour of the P30.

All in all, if you had to choose between the two, as a Xiaomi fan, of course the Mi 9 would be the choice, but for those who are not yet committed, it's not just the huge price difference that may be the deciding factor, but the overall look of the two phones. When the real test results come out, everyone can decide which brand to invest in, but in our country, the Mi Store-but in the xiaomishop.hu-is now available in black...
