Roborock, known for its robotic vacuum cleaners, has updated its Roborock S5 series (i.e. the S50, S51, S55) firmware (with an update in the Mi Home app), which has updated the user interface and added new features to the vacuum cleaner.

The interface has been cleaned up, with a turquoise blue map on a white background by default, which the software (also) divides into rooms by rescanning the apartment and applying separate colours to each room. This can be corrected afterwards, because it does not always automatically mark the boundaries of rooms where they are actually located. Once this is done, we can set the cleaning time and frequency for each room, as well as the suction power.

Taking into account the hardware capabilities of the robotic vacuum cleaner, the manufacturer is also trying to add new features to older models, so it is no longer just S6, and S5 Max owners have the privilege of selective cleaning. True, the S5 (S50, S55) is no longer available, but for those who got it earlier, now is the time to rejoice.

Unfortunately, available as MiJia Mi robot vacuum cleaner (Our robot vacuum cleaner) has not received such spectacular updates in its entire lifecycle, and Roborock - as a contract manufacturer - did not even have the interest to include the software virtual wall feature in an update for this model.
That the new, Dreame and Viomi produced by hire Mi robot vacuum-Mop and Mop Pro models, it is not yet known whether such a significant update is expected in the near future. A Mop Pro model also has a selective room cleaning feature (or we can just tag the rooms, but there is no individual cleaning option per room), a software virtual wall, no-go zone, and map backup. Not to mention a great wiping algorithm. So there's no justification for expansion here for the time being, although a carpet mode wouldn't go amiss, as the no-mop zone.

As a member of the Xiaomi ecosystem, Roborock is known for the first generation of the MiJia robot vacuum cleaner, the Mi robot vacuum cleaner, and the 1S, an improved version of the MiJia robot vacuum cleaner, which is only available in China. A Roborock Technology Co., Ltd-Xiaomi has a 24.7% stake in the company, with the rest held by Tianjin Jinmi Investment Partnership and the Shunwei Capital has.

Roborock has so far raised around 4.5 billion yuan (approximately $641 million) through an initial public offering (IPO).
