The Redmi line seems to be in chaos, they will come back, if they come back. The Redmi 12C has been released, cheap, weak, but still satisfactory. Ok. But where is the main line? The Redmi 12 has only just received certifications, but yesterday it got the MIUI 14 update. But where is the phone?

The Redmi 12 will debut with a newer MediaTek processor than the C variant, but not the latest one. The MediaTek Helio G88 is not new to the Redmi series, it's the same one used in the Redmi 10. So there won't be a big improvement in performance. We've seen this before, it's nothing new, an old model is simply being revamped in a new guise, in keeping with the times. MIUI 14 update

The phone hasn't even been released yet, and there's not even any news about the announcement. But yesterday they did release an update, Recovery and Fastboot.

Change log:

Optimised system performance
Enhanced system security and stability

It's not even the first beta, it's already stable and the version number is not the first. Who understands this? It's not the first time Xiaomi has done this.

More interesting facts

I found the Redmi 12 on Xiaomi's German site, and it's available now. Or it would be available if you could buy it, but you can't. Clicking on a non-existent page brings up a warning and nothing about the phone. If the site is to be believed, we do know what it looks like.

Mostly it looks like the Redmi Note 12 series, although the camera island doesn't protrude at all, so either the phone is thicker or the camera units are smaller. The price and some features are listed next to the phone. Now here comes the problem, the MediaTek Helio G85 is in the Redmi 12C phone. As we know, the main series always has better and more powerful processors. I mentioned above that we can expect Helio G88. However, the price reflects its veracity, €179.90 ~ 67,270 Ft is exactly what is expected. But unfortunately, the German site above, in the Terms and Conditions, already lists Redmi 12C 4/128 GB at that price, so they've really gone for it. Again...
