This morning I came across a very interesting draft update, a MIUI 12.5 Stable beta update released in China for a three year old phone. I hadn't seen anywhere that it was going to get it before, so it was a big surprise. And this is none other than the Xiaomi Mi Max 3!
The Xiaomi Mi Max series, in case you're not familiar, was the company's Phablet series. Back then, the average phone didn't have a screen size over 6″. They couldn't yet make the thin bezels like on today's phones, so the Max series was huge. It was exactly 176.2 x 87.4 x 8 mm and had a 6.9″ screen diagonal. This morning in China, MIUI 12.5 Stable beta testing started, with a lot of new features on Android 10. The phone was released in 2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo and MIUI 10. Over the years it has received several Android updates and 2.5 MIUI updates.
