The Mi Mix series continues with the launch of the Xiaomi MIX 4. Unlike Xiaomi's first foldable phone, the MIX Fold, this one does not have a foldable screen. However, the MIX 4 has become a phone with unique features in more ways than one. It is the manufacturer's first phone with an under-display selfie camera and Ultra Wide Band support, and the world's first phone powered by the Snapdragon 888+ processor.

Xiaomi has given the device a stylish look. The display is slightly curved, and the back is covered in ceramic, with a large square camera cavity that houses the three rear camera units.
The MIX 4 will be available in three colours: ceramic white, ceramic grey and ceramic black.
Specifications
The phone features a 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. The screen is a 10-bit TrueColor panel with a contrast ratio of 500,000:1. And Gorilla Glass Victus provides adequate protection.
The display uses micro-diamond pixel technology, which reduces pixel size and increases pixel brightness. According to Xiaomi, the redesigned display allows for better visibility of the camera zone (which was previously a major problem with selfie cameras built into the display).
Xiaomi's new phone is the world's first to be powered by the Snapdragon 888+ processor. All this can be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
One of the main highlights of the MIX 4 is its under-display camera technology, which Xiaomi has dubbed CUP (camera under panel). It features a 20MP 1.6μm 4-in-1 Super Pixel sensor.
There are three cameras on the back, a 108-megapixel HMX f/1.9 main camera with 7P lens and OIS, an 8-megapixel 50x telephoto camera with OIS offering 5x optical zoom, and a 13-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera. The ultra-wide-angle camera's free-form lens means distortion is reduced to around 1% compared to 20% for a plain lens.
Battery and charging
The 4500 mAh battery supports 120 W fast charging and 50 W wireless charging. By default, it takes 45 minutes to charge the 100% with the latter technology, compared to 28 minutes with Boost mode. For wired fast charging, Boost mode charges the phone in just 15 minutes, compared to 21 minutes with Normal mode. Xiaomi claims that the maximum back temperature of the phone when charging at 120W is 37°C.
The MIX 4 features 11588 mm² surface area cooling technology. It includes a 4584 mm² graphene sheet, a 1232 mm² graphene heat sink, a second 5070 mm² graphene sheet and a 702 mm² graphene sheet between the wireless charging coil and the ceramic backplane.
The phone comes with stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon. It also has 19 antennas, support for 42 frequency bands and a signal optimisation mode. Xiaomi also supports the 500 MHz ultra-wide band, which allows for accurate spatial positioning.
There is also an impressive phone locator feature that keeps the MIX 4 connected to the network even after the SIM card has been removed, so users can find the phone even if the thief was "smart" and removed the SIM card.

The MIX 4 is available for pre-order in China and will be available for purchase from 16 August at Mi Home stores, Xiaomi's online store, Youpin and official partners. No global announcement has been made yet, but it is estimated to be in the autumn.
