Xiaomi has not been idle this week, with a major launch in China on Thursday and in Barcelona on Sunday. There's a coincidence between the two, as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra phone is featured in both. Along with other products, of course.
The Ultra line has always been famous for its camera, so that's what most of the talk at the launch was about. There are a lot of new features and a lot of new technology. The rest of its features are not so different from the main line that they need to be discussed at length. But there are some subtleties there too.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra camera

The 14 Ultra is equipped with a four-camera system. All with Leica Summilux lenses, including the Sony LYT-900 1″, 50 MP main camera with OIS and f/1.63-f/4.0 continuously variable aperture. It also features a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/1.8 aperture and ADL ultra-low-reflection coating. Compared with the IMX989, the LYT-900 sensor reduces power consumption by 43% and achieves a native dynamic range of 14EV, 9.5 times that of the IMX989, preserving rich detail in both bright and shadow areas. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra's overall light output is 205% greater than the iPhone 15 Pro Max, making it an industry leader in light transmission.

There's also a 50 MP portrait telephoto lens with OIS, f/1.8 aperture and 3.2x magnification. And a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with OIS, f/2.5 aperture and 5x magnification. For selfies, it offers a 32 MP front-facing camera.

Xiaomi introduces AISP, the first large-scale artificial intelligence model with features such as ULTRA SNAP for fast capture, ULTRA RAW for high-quality raw images and ULTRA ZOOM for advanced zoom capabilities.
It boasts 30x AI superzoom, 120 frames per second 4K video recording (main camera) and full focus 8K video recording at all focal lengths. It also supports high frame rate slow motion recording and includes a professional photography package, including the full Leica experience and customisation options. It also includes Leica's distinctive styles and native dual-lens beauty for a comprehensive shooting experience, including night landscapes.
Satellite communication

Another great new feature of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is its two-way satellite communication. For this feature, Xiaomi uses its proprietary Surge T1 communication chip, which does more than just this one function. In addition to satellite communication, it also boosts the signal of the mobile network and Wi-Fi, creating a faster and more secure connection. It also supports the new Wi-Fi 7 standard.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra boasts a classic three-tier design, with a fully enclosed metal centre frame that is 9.2mm thick and weighs 224.4g for the plain leather version. Xiaomi has introduced the "Xiaomi Dragon Armor Architecture", which features a high-strength aluminum alloy frame and Dragon Crystal Glass, which provides superior anti-bending performance and increased drop resistance compared to the iPhone. In addition, the device features a fully uniform deep micro-curved screen design that combines the look of a straight screen with the tactile feel of a curved screen.

It is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with a 4,000 mm² liquid cooling chamber for better thermal management. It also boasts 5,300 mAh of battery capacity in the device itself, with 90 W turbo wired fast charging and 80 W turbo wireless fast charging, and increases to 6,800 mAh when paired with an additional camera module.
Xiaomi 14 Ultra price and availability
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be available in my back colour and with two backs. Classic black and white only with the enhanced nano leather back, while Dragon crystal blue with the latest ceramic technology developed by Xiaomi. The new ceramic material was developed after much work, as it was left out of the previous two generations due to the weight of the material. But now it has been reduced by 50%, so it can be used again and will be used in the next models. In addition, it doesn't drop the price like it used to, so all three have the same price.

There is no news about European prices yet, but don't be impatient, because we will find out on Sunday afternoon. It is possible to predict, that is, if the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is Chinese (€770) and European (€1,499) prices are taken into account, then the price starts somewhere around €1,699 ~ HUF 660,000.
