Xiaomi has always outsourced the production of its wearable smart gadgets to Huami, but until now they've mostly been managed through the Mi Fit or, more recently, the Mi Wear app. But now there's been a slight change, as the Zepp app used by Huami has been stumbled upon.

As every year, Xiaomi's smartwatch family will grow, with the 6 being the next in the family. Although it may be a bit early to tell, as the predecessor is just over half a year old. Although news that has now surfaced does not suggest that it will be released anytime soon, but they already have a product ready.

A moderator of the Geekdoing forum recently posted the information, which was obtained from the Zepp app, more specifically from the firmware file of the Mi Smart Band 6. According to the images, the bracelet will add new features such as blood oxygen measurement or GPS-based location tracking. But its screen will also be bigger than the Mi smart Band 5, so you'll be able to find out more information like sleep stats and basic info. Of course, the Chinese version will have Mi AI, while the global version will have Alexa to control your smart home, even with voice commands, and a microphone.

The menu has been expanded quite a bit, although there's not much new, but there's Alexa, water oxygen, etc., and interestingly the Cards menu, where you can select your emulated cards, so there will be an NFC version of that.

There will be a big improvement in sports, quite a lot of things will be included in addition to the basic sports, my personal pleasure is table tennis, which I will definitely take advantage of. I hope these won't just work with post-marking, but will be able to start pre-programmed exercise.

  • Indoor fitness
  • Indoor skating
  • HIIT
  • Basic training
  • Stretch
  • Stepper
  • Gymnastics
  • Pilates
  • Street dance
  • Dance
  • Zumba
  • Cricket
  • Bowling
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Table tennis
  • Badminton
  • Boxing
  • Kickboxing

Notification icons are also quite new, Xiaomi Mi Band 6 will now use native icons for popular apps, not just graphics sent by the phone.

And the default face sizes show exactly how the Mi Band 6 screen will be larger in either size or resolution, as the face graphics are 110 x 352 pixels, compared to 90 x 120 pixels in the Mi Band 5.

So the Xiaomi Mi Band 6, or Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 as it's known globally, will be a little more advanced than its predecessors, just enough to not be miles ahead of its predecessor, but still worth upgrading to the new bracelet. For me, it will definitely be a winner for sports, but blood oxygen and heart rate will also be very important for everyone in the future, not to mention the GPS and Alexa functions. For now, we're only talking about the Chinese version here, a little taste of the global one, but don't expect NFC payment here at home now either! Unless they finally solve the Google Pay payment method...
