The Xiaomi 14 Series is already known for its photographic features and the first official posters have been released. Xiaomi just unveiled the new series features today and they say it will revolutionise mobile photography!
Let me start with the recently announced Summilux optics, which I have already written more about here, and that is the point that really changes mobile photography. It is the end product of a combination of new lenses, electronics and, of course, software, that has never been seen before. And they think they have done it.
Leica Optics Summilux lens and new sensor with the fancy name "Light and Shadow Hunter". Xiaomi and Leica have teamed up to build a new optical system, now mobile devices really do have the super-powerful ability to capture moments accurately in all conditions. With its extremely high dynamic range and extremely large light-sensitive area, the Xiaomi 14 will make its mark in the history of mobile photography.
Higher light input, faster shutter response, more excellent bokeh capability and clearer night scene performance. The most perfect Leica Optical Summilux lens ever in mobile imaging!
And here comes the real news! Xiaomi has not only developed new lenses in collaboration with Leica, but has even adapted its own sensor. The manufacturer has not been revealed even in the rumours. But Chinese text speaks for itself:
A new leap in moving images! Xiaomi has announced a new image sensor brand called [Light and Shadow Hunter]. Extremely high dynamic range of 13.5 EV, more realistic colours and richer details of light and shadow. Same-size power consumption is reduced by 42%, battery life is longer, and shooting is more demanding. 1/1.31-inch, ultra-large bottom sensor with 1.2 μm pixels and 2.4 μm combined large pixels.
The main sensor has a resolution of 50 MP and an aperture of f/1.6 to f/2.2, with a focal length of 14-75 mm. While these may not mean much to many, sample photos are worth more than 1000 words.
Equipped with a 75 mm floating telephoto lens with a super wide focal length of 10 cm-∞. It's a portrait lens, and also an expert at close-ups.
Mobile portrait photography has never been so realistic. The classic 75mm portrait lens from Leica Optics, combined with a new upgrade to Xiaomi's Imaging Brain portrait engine.
Until the influencers come out with Xiaomi 14 camera tests, we can only rely on the data and images provided by the company. From what we've seen so far, the series promises to be very good and could really revolutionize mobile photography. As we've seen so far, Xiaomi has already abandoned the pixel war, it's left the mid-range. A new lens that lets in much more light than ever before. And this extra light is captured by an unprecedented light sensor and processed by the best camera software in the world.
