Did you watch this afternoon's our live claim? If so, there should be no big surprise. In addition to the Redmi Note 11 series, the Redmi Watch 2 smartwatch and Redmi Buds 3 Youth Edition earphones were also unveiled (very quickly) at today's event. So much so that while there was a bit too much talk about the Redmi Note 11 family, these two products were taken care of in about 10 minutes. Well, but what's worth knowing about them.

Redmi Watch 2

Compared to its predecessor, the new watch comes with smaller bezels, a 1.6-inch display, which is now AMOLED instead of IPS, and a resolution of 320*360 pixels. The power efficiency has been improved, according to the official info, the watch will last 12 days on a single charge under normal use. The predecessor was only capable of this in power-saving mode. Of course, this is also largely due to the display type, because AMOLED means that backlighting is only needed where the display is actually showing something. Charging is also done via a magnetic connector.

The heart of the watch is an Apollo 3.5 chip. It supports 117 different sports, including swimming. The device is water resistant up to 50 metres and also includes the usual sleep tracking and heart rate monitoring, but now also includes a blood oxygen (SpO2) sensor.

Redmi Watch 2 supports four global positioning systems - GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. The name of the latter may not be familiar, as it only works in China. We have NFC, which will hopefully work in our country too, in the form of contactless payments. Despite the larger display and improved battery, the watch itself is 4 grams lighter, weighing 31 grams. Buyers can choose from 3 colours for the watch body and 6 colours for the strap.

The Redmi Watch 2 is now available for pre-order in China and will start shipping on 11 November. The normal price is 400 yuan (~19 thousand forints), but the first pre-orderers can get it at a promotional price of 350 yuan (~17 thousand forints).

Redmi Buds 3 Youth Edition

The headphones promise 18 hours of battery life, well below the 28 hours of the Pro model, but still plenty long enough. They are USB Type-C chargeable and have Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, unfortunately without ANC, or active noise cancellation. The Redmi Buds 3 Youth Edition has an IP54 water resistance rating. This means that you can use it in the rain or when playing sports, it won't break down from sweat, but you can't go in the water with it.

And the price is the greatest virtue of the device. In China, it debuts with a price tag of 100 yuan, which is only 4800 HUF, roughly half the price of the pro version.
