Recently published India the first Xiaomi smart speaker with Google Assistant. The positive turn of events, while not surprising, was still a bit strange at first hearing, as the manufacturer has not come up with a single product like this, a smart speaker, in years, but none of them have been international.
It was assumed that this meant a European release, but no official information is available yet - so let's see what we know so far:
12 watt, 2.5" speaker, WiFi 2,4, 5Ghz, price around €60 (~ 20-25 thousand HUF + taxes, profit, etc.) and Google Assistant
And if that wasn't impressive enough, it has Bluetooth 4.2 support. In fact, if you buy two, you can pair them together for stereo sound.
It weighs 853 grams, but as it will be stationary most of the time, this is not a problem.
Why is it a good deal, it's more expensive than a Nest Mini, isn't it?
But yes, not by much, and the Xiaomi speaker is bigger, louder and has better bass.
It's certainly welcome news that after Mi Boxes and TVs and projectors, these products are coming to the global market from Xiaomi. Competitive offers, Xiaomi quality, great value for money - just what we need here in Europe.
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker is likely to arrive towards the end of October, but this is only speculation, there is no official information.
