Last week, a viral video went viral around the world of Bin Lin showing off the new Xiaomi double-folding phone. Not long ago, Chinese sources confirmed that Xiaomi's flexible OLED display will be made by display manufacturer VISONIX.
This morning, a VISONIX spokesperson confirmed this rumour, saying that the two companies have jointly developed the technical specifications for the dual-axis folding screen. According to VISONIX, this solution is a unique and technical breakthrough in the mobile market.
Lin Bin highlighted the unique solution that they had to solve a number of technical problems to create, such as the flexibility of the foldable screen, the four-axis folding strap, the flexible cover and the MIUI adaptation.
At present, the device is still very much a concept, not suitable for mass production. Lin Bin has stated this, saying that it will not be marketed until the new concept has significant fan support. If the device gets a large enough fan base, Xiaomi will take it upon itself to start mass production in the future.
The foldable mobile phone is aimed at audiences who want a smaller tablet and smartphone experience. The phone doesn't have a name yet, Lin Bin hasn't decided whether to call it Mi Dual Flex or Mi Mix Flex. Which would you vote for?
