It's no news that the new Qualcomm 7 series processor will be available in two Xiaomi phones, one of which we already know, the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. Well, not nothing, because our XDA colleagues have already revealed that Xiaomi will introduce two devices with this processor, codenamed Sirius and Comet. The Sirius is the aforementioned phone, and the Comet, according to recent rumours, will be the Xiaomi Mi 8X.

Our favourite leader, Lei Jun, was photographed on a plane with a phone that allegedly does not exist. It can't be Mi 8, Mi 8 SE or even Mi 8 EE, so it's a new device. Some rumours say Mi 8X, but it's not inconceivable that it's the Mi Note 4. And the Mi Note 4 would be timely, as the Mi Note 3 was unveiled last September.

What we know so far about the Xiaomi phone codenamed Comet:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 710
  • OLED screen with Always on Display
  • Android 8.1 Oreo basic
  • Xiaomi Mi device
  • Dual SIM
  • Infra
  • 3100 mAh battery
  • No NFC
  • No microSD card expansion

The lack of a fingerprint reader on the back means that it will be located at the front of the device, but where? The Home button or under the screen? Hopefully the latter! The other interesting thing is that while the Sirius had the notch highlighted in the OLED display, the Comet does not. So the hope is still alive that a mid-range top-end phone without a notch could be coming. And that beautiful blue colour...
