Xiaomi has been working on the concept of a bendable phone for quite a long time, with Lin Bin unveiling a prototype a year ago that we thought would be released soon. Well, it didn't. And now another, slightly different phone has been "accidentally" brought to light.

On a subway in China, someone managed to take a photo of someone holding a folding device with a familiar interface. The device could be a phone that folds in the middle, just like products from competing companies. In addition, as you can see in the picture, the phone is encased in a sturdy frame, which suggests that it is a prototype.

There's no doubt about the brand from the new image, it's a Xiaomi phone running the Chinese version of MIUI 12. What you can notice in the pictures is that the screen is a bit old in the middle from bending, what is that ditch??? And what are the texts on the screen? It looks like some 2$ Freeshiping ebay stuff with stockphoto image with MIUI 12 on it.

The other thing that stinks is, who is the idiot Chinese developer or tester or whoever who is showing off a secret project in a crowded subway? Anyway, that's my personal opinion.

But I could imagine something like that, I'd like it!

Update

I checked on the Chinese net, Weibo, etc. and they claim these pictures are very real, so it could be true. I mean, it's a poor prototype, not a real, pre-release phone. It should not be released like this, it would be a huge disappointment.
