The Redmi Note 9, launched last year, has finally received the Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update in almost all regions but one. And that is...

The Chinese version of the phone was updated in February. In other regions, the switch to Android, indicated by the highest two-digit prime number below 12, was much slower.

Regionally, this is now the update status of last year's Redmi Note 9, the Note 9:

  • China - V12.5.2.0.RJOCNXM
  • India - V12.5.1.0.RJOINXM
  • Global - V12.5.1.0.RJOMIXM
  • Turkey - V12.5.1.0.RJOTRXM
  • Indonesia - V12.5.1.0.RJOIDXM
  • Russia - V12.5.1.0.RJORUXM
  • EEA - V12.5.1.0.RJOEUXM

Taiwan is not on the list, and for good reason. For some reason, the update has not yet been released in that region. It could be a problem with the local service providers, but it could be anything.

For us, the EEA region is the most important, because our country belongs to it. It is clear that the update should already have arrived in our country. If this has not been done, there must be a problem with the service provider, especially if it is a phone purchased from an operator.

The Redmi Note 9 is last year's phone, so Android 12 is likely to be the last major version update. However, it could get MIUI 13, and it's also possible that additional support will be added - but that depends on a lot of factors.
