Xiaomi makes smartphones in almost every price range. Whether it's the entry-level segment or flagship, Xiaomi is everywhere. However, when it comes to the software side of Xiaomi, the brand's reputation becomes a little more nuanced.

Xiaomi smartphones can be divided into three categories, if you software it is about support. First come the entry-level Redmi smartphones, which include the Redmi A and Redmi C series, then all Redmi smartphones except the C and A series, and finally all Xiaomi branded smartphones. The company follows different upgrade policies for different categories, here are the different categories:

Redmi A and C, and Poco C series

The Redmi A and Redmi C series smartphones are the cheapest devices Redmi makes. The company offers 1 Android major version update and 2 years of security updates for the series. The security updates will be delivered quarterly.

Redmi and POCO smartphones

Az A és C sorozat kivételével minden Redmi márkájú okostelefon megkapja a 2 Android-főverzió frissítést és a 3 évnyi biztonsági frissítést. Ebbe a kategóriába természetesen a Redmi Note sorozat is beletartozik. A biztonsági javításokat is úgyszint’ negyedévente érkeznek.

Xiaomi smartphones

Xiaomi brand smartphones are generally available at a higher price than Redmi and Poco devices. The company promises 3 years of Android major version updates and 4 years of security updates for Xiaomi smartphones. Security patches also come quarterly, however this is not completely uniform and may vary by region and device. Xiaomi smartphones launched before the third quarter of 2021 may only receive 2 Android major version updates and 3 years of security patches.
