It's rare to hear (read) news when a Xiaomi battery is about to give up the ghost. Moreover, this has never happened in the Android ONE family. The Mi A1 was one of the best basic Android devices from Xiaomi, apart from the initial software glitch, and was sought after by an incredibly large number of users who wanted it.
The incident happened with a friend of an admin of the Mi forum. Unsuspectingly, he put it on the charger overnight as a daily routine and in the night he was alarmed to find his phone on fire. Fortunately, there were no personal injuries.
It is not yet known exactly what happened and why. In most of these cases, the problem may not be a serial fault, but a specific problem. I mean for Xiaomi devices... It could be a faulty battery, or the charger, adapter, overvoltage in the mains, etc. Or the battery may not be able to handle the fast charging on a daily basis and sooner or later lead to battery damage.
