Previously, it looked like the Redmi 7 wouldn't get MIUI 12, but now it's revealed that it will.

Xiaomi usually releases 1-2 major Android version updates for its phones, and 2 (or 3) MIUI updates.

The Redmi 7 was released in spring 2019, with a 6.26″ HD+ display, Snapdragon 632 processor and 2-4 GB of RAM. Updated from Android 9 to 10 and MIUI 11.

The Chinese model has just received the new MIUI, which means that the update is expected to arrive for other devices on the market.

Not a cutting-edge technology, which is why it is important to upgrade

At the end of pretty much all articles like this, I add that upgrading lower-end devices is perhaps even more important. It can, and should, be done to ensure that all phones receive Android, MIUI and security updates for as long as possible.

There are many reasons for buying a cheap phone, but just because a phone is cheap and has lower capabilities doesn't mean you should miss out on software updates unless it's particularly justified.
