24 June 2018 – Redmi 6 Pro is on Xiaomi’s official website!
Although I have planned this article not with such an introductory text about Redmi 6 Pro and not for today, but that’s what happened to us. The launch event is at last not at the weekend but on a weekday so I have time to collect all the information.
I don’t know how the Xiaomi planned the launch event of Mi Pad 4 and Redmi 6 Pro because so much information has never been available about a Xiaomi product days before its official release. Especially not about smartphones or tablets. Either it is due to time anomaly or an over-eager new colleague…..no info. I had hardly written about the prices of Mi Pad 4 and put the screen photo of the Black colour out when the other topic of tomorrow’s launch event appeared with all information.
Let’s see the features of Redmi 6 Pro to be launched tomorrow:
Design
First of all, it is beautiful. With these curves and colours, it has become really trendy. I don’t know why, perhaps because of my passion for Mi 8 but I am beginning to like the notch.
Black front panel was a good idea and so was the presence of a low-width notch. Yes, there is still a chin but at least you can hold it tight if you want to watch a video or play on it. The 2.5D glass cover fits perfectly the unibody metal back panel which got the common colours.
Write it in comment which colour you prefer.
Of course, the notch is not a ‘decorative element’, it meant to have an important function, but I will write about it below.
At the bottom, between a microphone and a mono speaker there is a microUSB.
At the top the 3.5mm audiojack remained and so did the infraport.
Its measures:

Width: 71.68mm
Thickness: 8.75 mm
Weight: 178 g
Fortunately, the battery is 4000mAh, so it can last for 2-3 days (depending on use). Battery supports 5V/2A charging.
It means a 34-hour continuous call, or a 16.5-hour video watching, or a 12-hour standby, or a 7.5-hour game playing.
Hardware
Snapdragon 625 shouldn’ t be introduced to anyone. You may have heard about it even if you got to know the Xiaomi brand a couple of months ago. The little outdated and boring octa-core processor still uses 14 nm manufacture technology and is clocked at maximum 2.0 GHz, with AdrenoTM 506 graphic processor, whose clock speed is 650 MHz.
The hardware supports 256GB microSD card. Quite well!
Besides two SIMs there is a microSD card as well. In this way if you wanted to save money or there was not a version with bigger ROM at the time of your purchase, you can expand it later and you don’t have to give 2 SIM, either.
3GB RAM + 32GB ROM / 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM / 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM
These variants will be available in the following weeks. As far as SD 625 is concerned, the engineers of Qualcomm face a new challenge. Why? Because the SoC has to cope with the biggest resolution and aspect ratio ever. It means that it will have to power a display of 5.84″, FHD+ (2280×1080). Display type has not yet been given but I would guess IPS. This resolution with this aspect ratio can 432 PPI dot intensity, 1500:1 contrast, and a light output 500 (typ) nit. The quality will be perfect as it provides
84% NTSC colour gamut. Reading mode and colour temperature will also be included and so will the active always on display with MIUI 10 although in a less efficient way than in case of Mi 8 series’ AMOLED display.
2 SIMs, dual standby mode:
In the same way as former Xiaomi mobiles with dual SIM, Redmi 6 Pro also supports dual standby. It means that if you use the network with one SIM the other is inactive. 2 Nano SIM can be used simultaneously with the microSD card. Both SIMs get full Netcom 3.0 and 4G support (but only one card is active). 4G+ and VoLTE HD voice are also supported (but not in our country).
Network frequency does not support 800 MHz, so for the time being NO B20!

Camera
At the back not only the design but the camera setup is the same as that of Redmi Note 5. It has a 12 MP (wide-angle), and a 5 MP (telephoto) sensor, f/2,2 aperture, and PDAF phase detection autofocus. The pixel size of the primary sensor 1.25µm, which suggests excellent photos at night and day as well.
Based on the photos there is only one LED flash between the two lenses. Both sensors feature AI, EIS stabillisation. Bokeh enthusiasts will like it.

Selfie camera
So as not to be the rival of its own phones, the selfi camera is a bit simpler, it can ‘only’ capture images with 5MP, but of course with AI beaty function. The sensor placed in the notch boasts not about its resolution but AI-based software face recognition can compensate us.
As for AI facial unlock:
The AI Face Unlocking algorythm allows very accurate, intelligent recognition in terms of facial recognition, body recognition and with other technologies. Facial recognition is fast and secure.

For 999 yuan it is priced favourably, this is the price of the entry model (3/32GB). In Hungary, with a 2-year guarantee, it will cost about 60,000 HUF for pre-orders beginning in the following weeks.
