It's been two days since the launch of the two new Redmi models, the Redmi 5 and its companion, the Redmi 5 Plus. The reception of the phones has been very mixed. The new design, the large screen and the mid-range specs have been well received by most fans, especially for the price. But there are always exceptions, who just looked curious, what's with this SoC? Only 16GB of back up? Where are the more advanced technologies? On the other hand, it didn't bring bad results.

At the presentation, each participant received a piece of the phones, which had been well charged by the colleagues beforehand. :D

Well! All joking aside The new Rendmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus Antutu tests were published the very next day.

The Redmi 5 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 450 processor, which is based on 14nm technology and has 8 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. And the score it achieves is 55.472. I wonder where this stands in the big race? Let's look at some nearby tools:

  • Huawei GR5 2017 56,684
  • Lenovo ZUK Z1 56,400
  • Huawei GR5 2017 56,389
  • LG G4 55,489
  • Huawei GR3 2017 54,962
  • HTC Desire 10 Pro 53,739
  • Sony Xperia Z5 Premium 52,747

The Redmi 5 Plus didn't do much better, as it's not a top-of-the-range phone, but a mid-range phone. The Redmi 5 Plus is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which is now running at 2.0GHz: 61.122. What are they near you?

  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro 65,099
  • Xiami Mi 5X 63,394
  • Samsung Galaxy Note5 63,270
  • Samsung Galaxy C7 62,930
  • Asus Zenfone 3 ZE520KL 62,914
  • Moto Z Play 62,875
  • Vivo V5 Plus 62,524
  • Meizu M6 Note 62,500
  • Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime 62,296
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X 61,925
  • Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL 61,724
  • Asus Zenfone Zoom 60,050
  • Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 59,185

It's a bit promising that they're beating competing brands of 50-150k, but there will be in-house competition. When we get our hands on it and it has a good Hungarian rum on it, we'll remeasure it! ;) It's clear that they won't be a foo but they will perform according to the hardware architecture. The difference though is the big screen, MIUI 9 and yes, the Xiaomi feel.
