The topic of artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an increasingly important role and has long been growing in the smartphone sector. Recently, significant advances have been made that, thanks to dedicated chips, allow advanced and efficient AI without the need to be connected to large data centres. The uses of AI are diverse, whether in personal assistants or cameras, as recently demonstrated by Huawei. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, announced in his speech that the company will focus more attention on AI in the coming year.

At the fourth WIC2017 World Internet Conference, where the world's leading internet companies will meet to discuss cutting-edge technologies, Xiaomi's Founder and CEO, Xiaomi CEO said that AI 2018 will deliver an exceptional user experience for their next-generation flagship smartphone. Xiaomi has managed to make a key breakthrough in AI, thanks to big data from our more than 85 Million connected devices. Applying these learnings to their next-generation flagship smartphone will create many more exciting possibilities for how users use their phones.

The likes already exist in MIUI, but mostly in the form of the smart speaker. For Xiaomi, the advancement of artificial intelligence is of course multifaceted, after all, the company is represented in many product categories, especially when it comes to connecting smart home devices and smartphones. In July this year, Xiaomi released its first AI speaker.

Xiaomi CEO added that the company's main focus will be on AI in the next 10 years and is of the view that all internet companies will soon be working on AI and Xiaomi is actively involved in AI development. He didn't give out any information on the release date of the smartphone, however there was talk of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 7, which will famously be humming the Snapdragon 845. According to the latest reports, this could be the first phone from the company that will feature wireless charging technology. So, it will surely be an exciting thing that Xiaomi will unveil next year.
