Switch off and remove the SIM tray.
Unscrew the two screws on either side of the USB-C socket located between the speaker and headphone jack on the bottom of the phone.
Hold the backing with a suction cup and gently start to prise it open. Insert a plastic sharp/shallow object into the resulting gap and gently pry the backing plate off.
After taking off the back cover, you can clearly see the triple articulation typical of Xiaomi phones. On top are the two motherboards, battery and bottom connectors.
You can clearly see that the connectors are not secured by metal plates, so if the phone is dropped or subjected to a strong shock, they can loosen and cause problems when using the phone. In the Xiaomi Mi 5X, the fingerprint sensor is fixed to the motherboard.
Disconnect all cables from the motherboard and unscrew the fixing screws.
This is the motherboard of the Xiaomi Mi 5X. The chips and modules are all protected by a plywood cover for heat dissipation.
Once the metal cover is removed, you can access the memory and the back.

From the bottom of the phone, remove the six screws that hold the speaker and USB card.
Turning the speaker plate upside down, you can clearly see that the vibrating motor is mounted next to the speaker.
The bottom plate contains USB-C, a 3.5″ Jack connector and lots of metal contacts.
