Xiaomi beats Samsung in India!

Xiaomi India yesterday announced that it has sold over 9.2 million smartphones in the country for the first time in the third quarter of 2017, up from 100,000 smartphones shipped per quarter in Q4 2014, and 3 million in Q3 2015, to over 1 million in Q3 2017, and now reaching 9 million units for the first time in Q3 2017, said Manu Kumar Jain, Vice President and Group Managing Director, Xiaomi India.


According to the latest Counterpoint data, Xiaomi has grown 266% year-on-year (Q3 2016) and has a market share of 22% in India. According to Counterpoint data, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A are the most popular smartphones in India.


An another company reports that Xiaomi is very close and is likely to beat Samsung in the next quarter in India.
Globally, Xiaomi shipped 70 million units in the first ten months of this year, exceeding the 2017 target. According to IDC, Xiaomi ranks fifth in the global smartphone rankings for the third quarter of 2017. The company sold a total of 27.6 million units in the quarter, up 102.6% from the same quarter last year.
