Reels, already well known from the Instagram platform, will be introduced on Facebook worldwide.

Reels has been available on Instagram since 2020, and was created with the undisguised aim of competing with the popularity of TikTok, which operates with short videos. Like its Chinese predecessor, Reels lets you record short videos with music, effects and more. Meta, which brings together Facebook and Instagram, has now decided to make the short video service available to everyone on Facebook, as sayReels is by far their fastest growing content format“.

The service will be available in more than 150 countries through iOS and Android apps in the near future. At the same time, the company is also expanding the monetisation opportunities for Facebook creators by offering the possibility to place ads in Reels videos.

It's undeniable that Instagram's primary profile is still image sharing, but Meta is also putting more and more effort into Reels, a service that allows users to quickly and easily edit and publish short videos, similar to TikTok.

In the meantime, the company is also developing a pay-as-you-go system test photo sharing, which allows users to access a variety of extra content from their favourite creators. According to the company's official announcement, the new system will allow content producers to build deeper relationships with their followers and increase their regular monthly revenue by producing exclusive content for subscribers.
