The rumours come and go, the speculators spout their opinions, we don't even know what to write. Yesterday, the Mi 7 was the big thing at this year's MWC Xiaomi, but today that theory has been disproved.
In recent weeks, there have been rumours of new phones like the Mi Max 3, Mi Mix 2s and Mi 6X. Of course, we could also include the Mi 7, but we can't take that as a rumour, it's coming. Okay, but when? A report by Androidheadlines, quoting a top Xiaomi employee, claims that the company will not make any major announcement at the upcoming Mobile Congress and it follows that the Mi 7 will not appear in Xiaomi's MWC announcements. Apart from the Mi 7, Xiaomi Mi Max 3, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s and Mi 6X could be the front-runners.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s may differ from its predecessor in the display, with the thicker part at the bottom, which also contains the selfie camera, being moved to the top, in the corner, on a small island.
Xiaomi's Mi Max 3 launch is also topical, the Max 2 with Snapdragon 625 is no longer the top phablet, but with its May release, its successor could come a little sooner. The new top giant could of course come with a full screen and dual rear cameras, as was the case this year, and there are also expected improvements in the processor, with many speculating the Snapdragon 660, but other rumours are already moving it upmarket, with the Snapdragon 835 processor being envisaged.
Xiaomi Mi 6X is rumoured to carry Xiaomi's next-generation processor, the Surge S2. Apart from the processor, the phone may undergo a minor facelift, the X-associated graphics will have the dual camera rotated 90 degrees to resemble the big rival iPhone X and of course it will be full-screen.
So what's not coming is the Xiaomi Mi 7. But why do some people think that this is not the event where Xiaomi's big gun will be unveiled? Probably because it's where Samsung's other biggest rival will be with the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, which will be powered by the same Snapdragon 845 SoC as the Mi 7. Xiaomi isn't the only company that won't be unveiling the new models at the congress and will unveil them to a large audience at a later date at a dedicated event.
So what are they presenting? Maybe not a phone, maybe just the Surge S2. Hence the Mi 6X is not real either, looking back to the first SoC that was introduced in the Mi 5c and so why would the new phone have an X end? So its own processor will accordingly be in Mi 6c.
