The Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, which have been making a big splash in the last few weeks, have completely dominated the large-screen Redmi range. While everyone is still waiting for the latest addition to the Redmi Note series, the Redmi Note 5, rumours have so far put off its release until the last few days. There have been speculations on a few sites that it might still be a Note, but then what makes it a Note? Or will it be a Note at all?

Latest reports confirm that Xaomi is currently testing the Redmi Note 5, which was previously claimed to be non-existent. Although Xiaomi fans have waited so long for this smartphone, they will have to wait until the second quarter of 2018 for the device to be released. Rumours claim that this smartphone will use the yet-to-be-unveiled Snapdragon 632 processor, which finally represents some sort of improvement in terms of performance.

In addition to the 1.8GHz processor, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 comes with a 5.99-inch FullHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It boasts of 4 GB of RAM while the internal memory specification is still a question, but at 64 GB of storage space less and expandable, it will be quite disappointing. As for the camera, we expect a dual-camera setup as seen in the latest images, but in a Redmi Pro layout. Two 12MP sensors could be placed at the back, while the front selfie camera could be the usual 5MP. No further details are known yet...

According to forecasts, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will hit the virtual shelves with a price tag of about 1,599 Yuan (about 245 dollars). But with this pricing, if it will be more than 200$, Xiaomi might even lose customers.

The pictures from TEENA and other official sites still show the familiar Redmi Pro, rather than the usual dual-camera setup. Maybe Redmi Pro 2 is coming? In addition, there is nothing level about the Snapdragon 632 SoC either, but some sources say it's a downgraded 636. Uh... where are they dumbing it down? 1.8GHz on the 636 anyway... sometimes it's incomprehensible what the news sites take for cash. What do you think? Which 6 series processor is expected in the Redmi Note 5 and do you think it has any justification to exist alongside the Redmi 5 and Plus?
