Xiaomi is coming up with better and better ideas, and not for nothing, because it wants to revolutionise the mobile market, just like it did with the Mix phone. It's on the right track, but it's not there yet, as the technology is still in its infancy.
The LetsgoDIGITAL, has created a striking graphic based on the designs for Xiaomi's latest patent. The new designs show the phone folding like the Samsung Fold phones already released, with the screen easier to fold and the screen curve hidden inside the casing. The main camera module on the back of the phone consists of three lenses, its properties are unknown. When folded, the front panel houses a not very large screen, which is more informal than usable, e.g. for gaming. Unfolded, however, you get a nice big display that can be used for everything. Since the two sides of the phone are the thickness of a normal phone, a cheaper solution is not to place the selfie camera under the screen or punch a hole in it, but to use the Pop-Up solution known from the Mi 9T series.
The selfie camera can be used in open or closed mode, so you can take a selfie or make a video call with the screen closed. It's the same with the screen open, but you can take a group photo of yourself on a big enough screen. The pop-up camera module here also includes two cameras, either for depth of field or a flat and an ultra-wide lens.
