Xiaomi has always equipped its Mix series with the most innovative technology, and its forward-thinking and market-leading solutions have always amazed us. It will be no different this time, as on March 29, they'll come up with something amazing again.

Liquid camera lens! Yes, yes, at first reading I also just asked: what??? But luckily Xiaomi has a little explanation about the new technology.

The liquid lens itself is not a new technology, I'm just not familiar with optical solutions, so I didn't know about it. It's been in the industry for over 7 years, it's been developed since then and it's mostly used in digital cameras, industrial applications, never in phones until now. Although Samsung and Huawei have already aired that they want to make such a phone, Samsung never did, and Huawei wants to introduce it in the P50 series coming out this year.

Liquid lenses use a flash process to achieve excellent autofocus capabilities. The lens itself is a sealed cell with water and oil inside. The process of electrowetting, shapes the oil droplet quickly and accurately into an effective lens. The process is continuous, reversible and fast for both small and large focal steps.

The main advantage of liquid lenses is their flexibility to be used in several different applications at the same time. Xiaomi's proprietary liquid lens allows you to focus macro and telephoto subjects side by side. The liquid structure of the lens can be precisely adjusted by a motor to the shape of a liquid sphere surface to achieve precise and fast focus. It is also characterised by high light transmission, ultra-low dispersion and resistance to extreme environments.

According to the current technology, phone cameras are at the end of their focusing capabilities, the fastest high-end devices can focus on something in 350 milliseconds, whereas a liquid lens takes only a few milliseconds!!! So Xiaomi is once again leading the way in this, as in many things in recent years. This year it will probably be followed by Huawei, then Samsung and now a factory giant. Now I wouldn't joke with the US company about when they will apply... yeah but! Then in 1-2 years, touted as an incredible innovation in a phone over 1.000.000 Ft!!!
