Dear readers!

As many of you already know, I'm Kornél Szabó, co-founder of MIUI Hungary and editor-in-chief of the Hello Xiaomi blog. In the summer of 2013, on September 30th to be exact, with the help and permission of the lead admin (Wuna/Nana) running the English forum hosted by Xiaomi, the official MIUI Hungary fan site was created under the miuiandroid.hu domain. Over the years we have gained quite a bumpy road to the miui.hu domain, which better reflected our blind love for the MIUI system and later the Xiaomi brand. After the creation of the forum, the demand for the Facebook platform increased noticeably, so we opened it up to our fan base to provide instant news, updates and support.

Back in 2016, we came up with the idea of a blog/website where we could further promote the brand, showcase it and provide more help to the media-hungry audience with the right amount of coverage and activity. In May 2017, we launched the Hello Xiaomi website and Facebook page. Initially, other names such as What's New were considered. Maybe it would have been better... after thousands of articles and thousands of tutorials, tests and help videos, something happened on Monday that shook the whole Hungarian Xiaomi community.

On 20.08.2018, a public holiday, the Fast Lane (Lane IP) a UK-based law firm specialising in the protection of trademarks, copyrights, designs, patents and domain names, has sent an injunction stating that "The website you are hosting is misusing the intellectual property of Xiaomi Inc." This is specifically stated in the miui.hu domain and its content. The law firm acting on behalf of Xiaomi Inc. has said that its content should be deleted and the domain suspended. We did not do this because, as you can see above, we are an official site. Or so we thought. 1 hour later we received a warning from Youtube that the above mentioned company had filed a complaint against the Hello Xiaomi channel (in parallel xiaomishop) for illegally using the Xiaomi name in the channel name. We have contacted the UK law firm but have not received a reply.

Yesterday, on the 22.08.2018 at 19:00, Facebook told me that MIUI Hungary and Hello Xiaomi also received a notification from the company that the use of the words MIUI and XIAOMI is illegal there. Facebook immediately blocked the pages! An appeal may be possible, but it will be a long procedure, also with Google. Facebook is waiting for an email from the company that denounced the use of the name, so we can't do more than that, unless the UK law firm that is named writes to them. It's a bit different with Google, where I have the option to veto the channel deletion. This has been done. So no Facebook page, no YouTube channel, so you don't see the videos in the articles because of that. If we don't get a positive response from either place, we'll create a new channel with a completely different name so that there's no interference and start re-uploading the videos. It will be a long process, but we will get to the end of it. We also relaunch our Facebook page under a different name.

I ask all Xiaomi/MIUI fans and our enthusiastic readers not to draw parallels with the opening of the Hungarian Mi Store! WayteQ is certainly not the cause of the whole story! They themselves were shocked to hear about what happened, we had a phone conversation and yesterday they posted in a facebook group that they had asked the parent company why these things happened. Thank you.

We will meet on Saturday at Lurdy House, I will be there, we will be there, we are waiting for you and feel free to contact us with any Xiaomi, MIUI questions, we are at your disposal!

PS: I will keep you informed about everything, stay tuned!
