Parent company Meta is already in the process of creating a functioning marketplace where users can trade their goods at their leisure.

One of the most commonly heard concepts these days is the metaverse, a digital space where users can enter using their avatars in a dedicated VR using a headset. Soon they'll be able to buy and sell, because Meta is committed to building a well-functioning digital marketplace called Horizon Worlds, where everyone can trade at their leisure.

Meta announced on Monday in a statementthat the foundations of the system have already been laid. According to the company, Horizon Worlds will only be open to people over the age of 18 and will be able to sell essentially anything, with the only stipulation being that it must be something that the user will use in the metaverse.

In parallel, the company will also launch an incentive programme to reward creators who actively contribute to the company's objectives. Horizon Worlds' new programme will be available only in the US for the time being, and is currently available to a limited number of testers.

Mark Zuckerberg first spoke of the metaverse last July when he announced that he would be turning his social media empire into a metaverse company over the next five years. Since his announcement, the technology has been severely reviews primarily because of its impact on mental health, but also because in such a space users become even more vulnerable to those who would do them harm.
