Xiaomi launched the MiJia IP camera yesterday, shortly after the release of the previous MiJia 360 action camera. MiJia has obviously targeted a different market segment for the 360-degree wide-angle camera. Let's see where!
The Xiaomi MiJia is a smart PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom), or remote-controllable-zoom-zoomable camera, which means it can be remotely controlled via WiFi. The camera is actually equipped with two motors, one is used to move the camera up and down, while the other is responsible for horizontal movement.
Thus, the Xiaomi MiJia smart IP camera is capable of 360-degree rotation with a 115° vertical and 100.2° wide-angle camera.
The biggest advantage of this IP camera is that it can be mounted anywhere: on a desk, nightstand, wall or ceiling with the included accessories. The camera uses quiet gears that allow manoeuvring with almost no external noise, it also supports infrared night vision.
The Xiaomi MiJia smart IP camera can be controlled from a smartphone, tablet, and even viewed on TV, supporting local recording to a microSD with 720p resolution. In addition, you can connect the MiJi camera to a Xiaomi router and record to a hard drive or upload everything to the cloud.
The Xiaomi MiJia Smart PTZ IP camera costs an incredibly cheap 99 yuan, which is about $30!
