Xiaomi has already shown off a foldable phone, which Lin Bin demonstrated in a video, but it has not yet gone into mass production. Since then, the company has filed quite a few patents with a similar, or slightly more messed up, solution, but with a design similar to a competitor's, but in my opinion unviable.

Once again, LetsgoDigital has put together a spectacular 3D graphic of the Xiaomi design, which not only has a huge open display, but when folded, its thickness rivals that of phones from before 2000.

When folded, it can be brutally thick, like three times the thickness of a current thin phone, but remember that this is just a design, not a soon-to-be-released phone. Don't jump to the conclusion that it's so-and-so crap, useless, etc. it's just a plan! If we assume that a phone today is over 6″, but let's take the Mi 10 phone as a starting point, when opened, it has a resolution of 3240 x 2340 pixels and is roughly 8″ in diameter.

Xiaomi is still waiting to see how the spectacular failure of its competitors will continue to develop its own foldable phones, so we can expect to see the company's device only next year. The Xiaomi Z Fold might not be the phone we'll see, until then the foldable screen technology and mechanics are still evolving, and the company will have to come up with a usable and affordable version. We'll see what the company flashes in 2021, we'll always be on the lookout!
