Launched in Vietnam last week, the POCO C40 has finally gone global. The C40 was launched as the cheapest POCO smartphone and came with a huge battery pack. But the biggest new feature is the JLQ JR510 processor!

JLQ is a China-based joint venture focused mainly on IoT devices and SoCs for budget-friendly smartphones, priced around $100. They were founded in 2017 and currently have around 100 employees. However, despite their small size and basically unknown status, the company is quite large, with nearly half a billion dollars in capital, and one of its founders is actually Qualcomm. They are likely to outsource their SoCs from Qualcomm and tailor them to their needs. They supply them to device manufacturers such as POCO, who now use their JR510 SoC in the POCO C40. So, now that we know who JLQ really is, let's see what other SoCs they have!

The JLQ JR510 is the SoC that POCO uses in its POCO C40 device and is a mid to low range SoC.

The SoC includes a 4G modem, without 5G support, Qualcomm modem with Hexagon DSP, Hi-Line software, which is very similar to the Snapdragon 662. The chipset is likely to include Qualcomm chips. In the case of Bluetooth and WiFi, since the chipset name can be found in Qualcomm's Linux kernel blobs (drivers).

The SoC will also have an 8-core configuration, with 4 Cortex A55s at 1.5 GHz and 4 additional, as yet unknown CPUs at 2.0 GHz, most likely also with an A55 CPU. The JR510 will also include a Mali-G52, which is a fairly low-end GPU. The POCO C40 will be codenamed "Frost" and will come with MIUI GO based on Android 11.
