Another new Xiaomi gadget: the Mi Smart Fan

Xiaomi is also preparing to beat the summer heat with the latest addition to its ecosystem, the Mi Smart Fan.

Last year we introduced the Mi USB fan, which can be powered from the Power Bank. This year, we've come up with something bigger. It's not a tiny USB fan anymore, it needs its own power source. It's made by Zhimi, a company in the ecosystem, to keep your home cool in the summer even without air conditioning.

Winds are unpredictable, but our engineers have worked hard to collect data and analyse natural air currents. The Mi fan provides a more comfortable and natural effect.

We have further improved the air turbulators, which has significantly reduced drag. A stronger, more natural, more direct effect for fans who prefer conventional fans.
The Mi a Smart Fan features a brushless DC motor. The brushless DC motor is a synchronous electric motor with DC power supply, which has an electronically controlled commutation system instead of a brushed mechanical commutation. Brushless DC motors typically have an efficiency of 85-90%, compared to 75-80% for brushed DC motors. This difference means that more of the energy used by the motor is converted into rotational energy and thus less heat is lost.

The quieter the better, especially if the fan is running at low speed at night while you sleep. Based on lab tests (results may vary depending on the environment), the fan only emits 29dB of noise.

Now for the main feature of the fan that makes it unique and which makes it completely different from traditional and standard stationary fans. Here you can use your mobile phone to adjust the fan angle, the oscillation mode, the timing and basically everything else. Mi a Smart Fan also works well with Mi Smart Home Suite. Let's say you place a body sensor close to the door, and when it detects motion (it will open or close the door), it will automatically turn the fan on/off.

The Mi Smart Fan has a built-in 33.6 WH battery that can run for up to 16 hours. This comes in handy in case of a power cut, for example. It weighs a total of 3.4 kg, so it's easy to carry around inside or outside the home.
