Xiaomi has more launches in store for the autumn. Just think of the Mi MIX 3 launch in mid-September. But before that, the manufacturer is expected to update its most popular upper-mid-range model, the Redmi Note 5.

Before getting to the point, a little retrospection:

At the end of 2017, everyone was still waiting for the successor to the Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4. Finally, the Redmi 5 and 5 Plus were launched in December, followed by the Redmi Note 5 in early 2018. But the palette is much more diverse than that, let's take a look (without claiming completeness).
The Redmi Note 5A was the first of the Redmi 5 series of phones to debut almost exactly a year ago, at the end of August 2017. The entry-level Redmi 5A followed in October, with a wide range of RAM/ROM variants and colours. Not to mention that there is still confusion over the same name for the Indian market. The best examples are the Redmi 5 Plus in China, known as the Redmi Note 5 in India, and the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, which is also very popular in China and is now known as the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India. It's a mind boggling. And let's not even mention the Indian "Y" versions. The point is that the Redmi Note 5 Pro is not usable in Europe as it lacks several LTE frequencies.

With the exception of the Redmi 5A, the entire 5 series was replaced or discontinued within 1 year (Redmi Note 5A). The Redmi 5 and 5 Plus were only available from the end of February 2018, and Global B20 versions were only available after that.
Essentially, within six months, the successor, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A, arrived. Both models returned to the MediaTek processors that were forgotten 2 years ago. The decision was made for financial reasons, as they are cheaper to buy and the licensing costs are significantly lower (none in some regions) compared to Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. There are no complaints about performance, and the power consumption is also quite pleasant. In addition, upgrading will not be neglected, as it was with some MTK models of the previous period.

Half a dozen versions of the Redmi Note 5 have been unveiled in the last 5-6 months, including the 6+64GB (B20-free) domestic version and the recently announced 6+128GB Global version. The success is no coincidence, as both hardware-wise and camera-wise the phablet is very decent.

While the Redmi 6A, Redmi 6, and Redmi 6 Pro (Mi A2 Lite) have already been unveiled, there's still no news on the Redmi Note 6. The Redmi Note 6 Pro, on the other hand, will be unveiled soon:

Roland Quandt's name is not unknown to those in the phone circles, or indeed to loyal HX readers. He has leaked several Xiaomi models ahead of time, with almost only real data.
That's why we can trust again Roland's tweet, in which he reveals some information about the Redmi Note 6 Pro.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro will come in two variants, 3/32GB and 4/64GB, in gold, blue and black. More versions are expected to arrive in Europe, including a 6GB RAM version and more colours (e.g. red)

The phone is expected to cost between €200 (~$64,800) and €250 (~$81,200), which is the gross selling price of the current 4+64GB / 6+64GB versions. It is expected that the tax charges will push the price of the Redmi Note 6 Pro even higher.
No news on the chipset and battery capacity. The Redmi Note 5 uses a Snapdragon 636, so we can expect an SD660 or 670.
The announcement is expected in September or early October at the latest. We would not be surprised if it is sooner.

Now many people are asking the question "But where is the Mi Note 4?!"
We are also curious about this. :)

Here, we'd like to be the first to announce that we've received the MI 6X for testing, which we'll be comparing with the Mi A2 soon. ;)
