Back last year, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus were launched in China and the phones that have arrived since then have always come with a closed beta stable ROM that could not be updated or the phone was bricked. Even bootloader could not be opened from Chinese IP address only. With great difficulty, they released the public stable ROM before the Chinese holiday, which of course could not be loaded on the existing one and only ran on an open bootloader.
After all the herce-hurdle, the Indian opening and launch, they finally started recruiting Global Beta testers yesterday. Since there was no developer ROM to open the bootloader with, Chinese developers had to be put on and opened with that, then up to stable. Once the global developer finally comes out, it can be opened with it and new Redmi series owners can enjoy the latest features and improvements.
For beta testers you can apply here, if the following conditions are met:

- Communication tool: QQ (No other alternative)
- Device:Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5 Pro
- Other conditions: use the latest Global development rom, test and learn about roms, forum activity, keep in touch with other testers on QQ

For prospective Redmi Note 5 Pro owners, the good news is that by the time you receive your phone, the Global Developer ROM will be in the background testing and you'll get it soon. Hopefully by the time it reaches us for testing, we'll be able to present it to you!
