According to recent rumours, Xiaomi will soon unveil the latest addition to the Redmi Note series, the Redmi Note 5. The newest tepee handset will come with a 5.5-inch and 18:9 aspect ratio and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, which is currently the second most powerful mobile SoC in Qualcomm's lineup. But compared to that, Geekbench shows something completely different, an outdated old Snapdragon 617 chipset, and the reality is only slightly close.

The device that will appear on Geekbench is called the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, but we've seen bunnies in the grass before, and we're not going to take it lightly. We don't need to. Based on the image above, would the new and more powerful Redmi Note 5 just come with such an old and forgotten processor? Nonsense, because then we could put it on the same shelf as the Moto G4, G4 Plus, HTC One A9 and Samsung Galaxy C5, all a year and a half old. Either the Geekbench app is wrong, or it's all fake. Otherwise, it's not a big folly to rewrite the model number in the phone so that all apps see it as what we want it to be...

The best example of Geekbench's error is a Redmi Note 3 Pro profile, where it says the same msm8952, even though we know it's the Snapdragon 650! So you are wrong! As expected and contrary to the above, there are those who believe that the Redmi Note 5 will already come with the new 14nm technology Snapdragon 636 Soc, which is just cost effective enough for the Redmi series. The 636 will support 18:9 aspect ratio and the Kryo 260 core with 40% will offer better performance than the Andreno core of the 630 chip.

Other rumours also suggest that the Redmi Note 5 will be the first Xiaomi phone with a dual front camera, just like the rear one, a 16 and a 5 MP. Other parameters we can only hope for are a 4000 mAh battery, 3/4GB RAM, 32/64GB back and B20. All this under the dream 1000 Yuan limit, of course for the base model.
