Just over a month ago, a brand new phone was released on Xiaomi's social financing platform, and it didn't stand out from the rest with its huge screen or super camera, but on the contrary, it has neither. On the other hand, it has a row of buttons underneath a prominent, appropriately sized screen - a retro phone for younger people - which is aimed more at the older generation.
On the other hand, the device is not focused on the production and consumption of media content, but on the possibilities and convenience offered by artificial intelligence. Its screen is just 2.8″ in diameter and 240×320 pixels, protected by Gorilla Glass. The keyboard is touch-sensitive, but not mandatory to use, as the built-in Xiao AI is capable of performing all tasks. It can retrieve any data from the internet, weather, stock market, news, recipes, etc. You can also control the phone's functions, make/receive calls, dictate SMS, control music playback/radio and translate back and forth instantly between 17 languages.
In addition to the AI, it has a few extra features, including an infra transmitter to control the air conditioning, TV, TV Box, etc. Mobile network bandwidth is not known yet, but it is 4G capable (B20 not included), has built-in WiFi for use as a hotspot and a dual nano SIM slot. It is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A53 processor with Mali T82 GPU. It has 256MB of RAM and 512MB of internal memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. Its battery seems quite small, but just enough at 1,480 mAh for such a small feature set.
The phone was launched on the social networking site for 199 Yuan (29$) and within a month more than 60,000 people backed the project, resulting in the launch of mass production after raising more than 18 million Yuan (2.6 million $). Public sales have begun on the Jingdong web store with a price tag of 369 Yuan (54$) and are now available in four colours: grey, white, yellow and red.
