It seems that Xiaomi wants to go against their own ethos, which is what we have experienced since their inception. Google has outright opposed Xiaomi's latest proposal.
After all, Xiaomi's first product was MIUI, which was not even written for its own phones, but for other brands, mostly with a ZTE-like look. Xiaomi CEO and friends have reworked the open-source Android foundations released by Google to deliver a better user experience on every phone. And it worked. So our friends in China started by having fun.
The Mishaal Rahman by On Twitter Xiaomi developers have submitted a proposal to Android's open source AOSP project to completely prevent Android device owners from copying APK files from their phones, according to information shared on the Internet. The reason for the block is to protect "private resources".
Google appears to have been outright against Xiaomi's proposal. One of Google's employees pointed out the problem in Xiaomi's proposal, which would only prevent simple users from copying APK files, while fans with higher technical knowledge could continue copying APKs as usual. Following this logic, Google has criticised Xiaomi's approach to protection, saying that it doesn't actually protect anything.
In addition, several Google employees objected treat the content of APK files as a "private source".
"I'm sorry Guowei, but I don't think this is the preferred way to protect IP addresses or the services provided by APK. Even with this CL, there are multiple ways to get the APK (for example, resetting a custom-built Android with this CL). The APK is basically NOT a secret. If a part of the APK does contain a secret, it must be protected by other means, such as DRM."
