The first Xiaomi strapa phone could come in the first half of 2018

As we know, only Telenor had an IP68 Xiaomi phone... sorry, I couldn't miss it. No, it doesn't have such a phone, but Chinese reports have suggested that the company is already working on it. Next year we can expect the first Xiaomi phone with a rugged design that will be water, dust and shock resistant.

When fans Xiaomi CEO-Asked back in June about Xiaomi's water resistance and IP protection, the CEO said that if the Mi series had not been equipped with such protection before, it would have increased the price of the device and jeopardised Xiaomi's price advantage. But if customers accept that they will have to pay 20-30 per cent more for the high-end, they will consider adding it to the new flagship's features.

Leading smartphone manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, LG, Sony and Motorola have already introduced IP-rated top phones. For example, the newly unveiled Apple iPhone 8, 8 Plus, the iPhone X offers IP67 protection. The Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, Sony Xperia XZ1 and Motorola Moto X4 are IP68-rated smartphones.

Xiaomi Mi and Mi MIX series smartphones are serious competitors to flagship phones from Apple and Samsung. According to recent information shared by industry insiders, the company's rugged smartphone could debut in the first half of 2018. Could this be the first rumour about Xiaomi Mi7 smartphone?

Xiaomi Mi7 is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2018. It is rumoured to get a full-screen design and a huge display and will likely feature the Snapdragon 845 chipset, and may also support Qi wireless charging.

If the Mi7 does indeed come with a rugged, durable casing, it will be the best Xiaomi phone ever. Okay, true, that's true for every new Mi series, but so what. It's got the punch of a Papa Bear.

Would you pay, say, 20,000 forints more for the new top-of-the-line Xiaomi phone because it's waterproof?
